Mumtaz Biography
The beautiful actress Mumtaz is known for her award wining performances in films like Tere Mere Sapne (1971) and Khilona (1970).


MUMTAZ
Mumtaz was born on 31 July 1947 in Bombay to Abdul Saleem Askari and Sardar Shadi Habib Agha. On 29 May 1974, she married Mayur Madhvani and has two daughters named Natasha and Tanya. Natasha is married to Feroz Khan's son, Fardeen Khan. 

MOVIES
Mumtaz started her film career at the age of twelve. She appeared in flop films like Boxer, Samson, Tarzan, and King Kong. She played a minor role in the superhit film Mujhe Jeene Do. 
The actress was noticed when she played a negative role in Mere Sanam (1965) and was seen in hits like Patthar Ke Sanam and  Ram Aur Shyam (1967). Mumtaz got the Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Ram Aur Shyam opposite actor Dilip Kumar. And so she began her successful career. In films like Saawan Ki Ghata, Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi, and Mere Humdum Mere Dost, she appeared alongside Sharmila Tagore. 



She was paired with superstar Rajesh Khanna in Raj Khosla's superhit film  Do Raaste (1969) and in Gehra Daag as Rajendra Kumar's sister. The actress played the lead role in Tangewala. For her 1970 release Khilona, she won the Filmfare Best Actress Award. Mumtaz showed amazing chemistry with superheroes like Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Feroz Khan, Jeetendra, and Rajesh Khanna. Tere Mere Sapne, Roop Tera Mastana, Aap Ki Kasam, and Aaina are some of her most acknowledged films. 

Mumtaz was honored with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996 and also at the International Indian Film Academy for Achievement in Indian Cinema in 2008. 

The actress will soon be seen in an English language movie, 1 a Minute, by Namrata Singh Gujral.
